Family Based

WSM is committed to and experienced in helping families from around the world obtain lawful immigrant status in the U.S.  We derive great satisfaction using our immigration expertise to make the path to permanent residence a smooth one. Our goal is to ensure that family members can live, work and succeed together in the United States. 

We have represented U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents in their petitions on behalf of:

• Spouses, including same sex spouses
• Brothers and sisters
• Minor children
• Adult children
• Fiance/fiancées
• Parents

We can also assist in:

• Waiver applications during the permanent residence process for criminal convictions, past misrepresentations to U.S. officials, use of false immigration documents, being HIV positive, and other potential bars to immigration
• Self-petitions for non-citizen spouses who have suffered emotional or physical abuse

WSM representation includes preparing and filing the visa petition and application for permanent residence, including all related forms, and the required supporting legal documents and waivers. We explain the process and what to expect and then prepare our clients before their interviews. We attend and represent our clients at the immigration interview. If a client's family member is processing for an immigrant or nonimmigrant visa through a consulate overseas, we prepare the legal documents to be filed and assist with follow up with the U.S. consular official.
