WSM Associate Stephanie Smith will speak on May 16 at the League of Women Voters, North and Central San Mateo Counties public meeting on Immigration Reform.  Joining Ms. Smith will be Tyche Hendricks, editor for The California Report on KQED Public Radio in San Francisco and Mark Silverman, Director of Immigration Policy at the Immigrant Legal Resource Center.  The meeting takes place from 7 to 9 pm at the Chetcuti Room, Library Plaza in Millbrae, California.

Kirsten Schlenger Returns to China

WSM Partner Kirsten Schlenger recently returned from a productive immigration business trip to Shanghai, 20 years after her last visit to China.  Kirsten met with the Shanghai U.S. Consulate’s Section Chief for Nonimmigrant Visas; visited the Shanghai office of a Bay Area high tech client; and attended the International Network of Boutique Law Firms’ presentation on Shanghai’s growth strategy and how to develop responsibly while addressing the needs of the community and the environment.  Says Kirsten, who was an East Asian Studies major at Yale University and a Chinese Studies student at Chinese University of Hong Kong, “The energy and excitement in Shanghai rival that experienced in Silicon Valley 2000, when anything and everything was possible.”
 
Kirsten Schlenger to Speak at Upcoming Immigration CLE

On April 12, 2011 Managing Partner Kirsten Schlenger will speak on a panel on J-1 Visas at the American Immigration Lawyers Association Northern California Chapter’s legal continuing education seminar.   Ms. Schlenger will focus on tips for working with the American Immigration Council’s J-1 Sponsorship program.
